How do I get to Oban?

Getting to Oban is relatively straightforward and our friends at Visit Oban have created a comprehensive guide on how to get here.

I am bringing a car, is there Parking in Oban?

YES! Secure undercover parking is offered by Stoddarts of Oban. This is a short walk from the North Pier Pontoons where your vessel will be waiting for you.

There is also paid parking and free on street parking available. PARKOPEDIA is a great resource for planning your parking. Clients have had good experiences at Albany Street Car Park.

Are there Supermarkets close by?

Aldi, Tesco, Lidl, Marks & Spencer all located conveniently close to the North Pier Pontoons. Have you considered the “Premium Package” where we will load your Tesco’s Click & Collect Order onto the vessel prior to your arrival?

Where is the nearest place to get Diesel Fuel?

The nearest places to get fuel are Kerrera Marina, conveniently located across the bay from the North Pier Pontoons or Dunstaffnage Marina just north of Oban Bay. Fuel can also be obtained from the Pier at Tobermory Harbour and Salen Jetty.

Remember when purchasing fuel the vessel is commercial so you should pay a commercial rate.

Do I need to return the vessel with full Gas Cylinders ?

We have a stock of Gas so you do not need to return with full cylinders. Gas is complimentary but with a fair usage policy in place.

What is the difference between an OYC owned and a OYC Managed vessel?

Essentially an OYC owned vessel is owned and operated by us. You will have a handover from a OYC employee. An OYC managed vessel is not owned by us. The owner is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the vessel. We obviously have a close relationship and inspect the vessel regularly. The handover may be done by an OYC employee of the Owner of the vessel. In the interests of transparency e make it very clear if the vessel is Owned or Managed by us.
